Ketu South MP denies pocketing GHC90,000 NLA money

The Member of Parliament for Ketu South, Abla Dzifa Gomashie has denied pocketing the GHC90,000 support she received from the National Lottery Authority (NLA).

Though the MP, who doubles as the Minister for Tourism and Creative Arts admitted to seeking support from the NLA to undertake some works in the constituency, she indicated the money went into the rehabilitation of the Anoenu CHPS project.

According to her, the move to rehabilitate the Anoenu CHPS was intended to ensure the facility is well-equipped to provide quality and timely maternity and reproductive healthcare services to residents in the enclave.

“It’s ridiculous for anyone to think that I have the capacity to take state money for personal gain,” the Ketu South MP posited.

She explained that, “I wrote to the NLA for a part of their Corporate Social Responsibility fund to put up a two-cubicle water-closet and a urinary for a CHPS compound I was remodeling to be able to accommodate a space where mothers could deliver -it was a one room I inherited from my predecessor with a shed in front of it.”

“As we speak, I was able to use that money and more, to put up two extra rooms, give them equipment and supplies and built the water-closet as indicated,” she added.

The MP went further to indicate that the Anoenu CHPS compound received additional support including a borehole to ensure constant supply of water.

She emphasized that, “that’s exactly what I used the money for and not a dime went into my pocket.”

Madam Gomashie came under fire in September, when the Fourth Estate listed her as a beneficiary of the NLA’s Good Causes Foundation.

The publication indicated that the Ketu South MP received GHC90,000.

The MP in attempt to debunk the claim, took the media to the Anoenu CHPS compound in the constituency for verification.
