The NPP Presidential candidate primaries are gradually heating up among the five contesting candidates, with each vying against opponents.
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has embarked on a tour of the Bono Region to interact with party delegates. Dr. Bawumia’s visit to the Berekum East Constituency drew a massive crowd of delegates who welcomed him at the Berekum College of Education Auditorium.
Notably, delegates from Berekum East who voted against Dr. Bawumia in the November 4th, 2023, NPP presidential primary have pledged their support for him this time around, promising not to disappoint him.
Kwaku Kankam, NPP Chairman of Berekum East, stressed and assured that delegates in the constituency will vote for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and rectify their previous decision of voting against him.
Dr. Bawumia urged the delegates to rally behind him as he refuted claims questioning his suitability for the position, particularly allegations branding him the worst-performing flagbearer in the 2024 elections.
He dismissed these as untrue, citing NPP’s past presidential candidates from Prof. Adu Boahen to President Kufuor, asserting that compared to his predecessors, he has been the best-performing candidate, securing 41% in the last elections.
Dr. Bawumia emphasized that the allegations against him lack data-backed evidence, urging delegates to vote for him on January 31st, 2026.
He implored delegates to focus on his capabilities rather than succumbing to false narratives and allegations.
Addressing his standing among the five candidates, Dr. Bawumia asserted he currently holds the flagbearer’s mantle, suggesting none of his opponents can usurp it without resorting to unfounded allegations.
He attributed criticisms to attempts to peddle false information about him.
