Henry Asante Twum defends Benjamin Asare amidst slander for goalkeeping blunder in Basake

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) Communications Director Henry Asante-Twum has come to the defense of Hearts Of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare following a mistake in a match against Basake Holy Stars.

Asare’s error led to a penalty which led to a goal, but the GFA Communications Director believes he shouldn’t be harshly judged.

“Mistakes are bound to happen,” the Mr H.A.T said on TV3’s Sports Station. “Whatever happens on the pitch, the fans become agitated and sometimes they want to go to the extent of going for the player.”

“Before the two goals against Bibiani GoldStars, he had gone five games without conceding. And then yesterday [Sunday] he conceded against Basake Holy Stars and even they won.”

“He is the leader of the team. He’s done so well by bringing Hearts of Oak this far. Before the start of the season, there were many who doubted the quality and the ability of Hearts of Oak this season.”

The Director emphasized that Asare is working with experienced coach Didi Dramani, who understands the challenges players face.

The GFA official urged fans to be patient and supportive, recognizing Asare’s potential and the efforts he’s made.

“Whatever he has done for himself should not be taken for granted,” the Director added.
